Fuck yeah. Thank you for giving Dan Auerbach much deserved love. Haven’t heard Tinariwen yet but I’m looking forward to checking it out.

Finally a real list. Congrats from shying away from Animal Collective emo crap. Lee Fields – one of the best soul albums of the past 15 years.

Megafaun!!!! Yessss

Damn right. Dan killed it. I cannot believe that other publications/blogs are not touting his amazing work. Tinariwen takes a few listens, but it’s some of the best blues that I’ve heard in a long while.

i don’t know much about tinariwen or real estate. interesting list.

I agree with Grizzly, Denim, and Megafaun 100%. I thought Dan’s album was a little boring with the repeating riffs underlying entires songs, unchanging, and prefer Black Keys stuff to it. But if you say Lee Fields is better than White Denim, my favorite band, then I will get it right now.

A terrific list. Love that Lee Fields made it. Lots of folks slept on that one this year.

Compared to the first 3 Black Keys albums, I found “Keep It Hid” pretty tedious – very unimaginative riffs recycled with not terribly memorable melodies. Pat’s band, Drummer, made a far more interesting record.

Dan’s album wasn’t at all about the riffs. Sure, they’re there, but Keep It Hid was all about the songwriting. Listen to “Goin Home” and tell me that’s not beautiful.

I agree with Matt – it’s not about the riffs. This was a Dan album, he wasn’t trying to emulate his work with the Black Keys. In addition to singing, writing, playing guitar and producing, he played drums, percussion and glockenspiel on this album. I’m obviously a big fan of “Keep It Hid.” Ben, I dig Drummer too.

Thanks Bruce.

Dan Auerbach, too was my favorite. I would have included Melody Gardot in this top ten somewhere though.

If you do Stan, bring that KISS Army shirt so I can steal it again.

Stan is really into KISS onesies.
