Traffic Advisory for Coachella
The Indio Police Department has issued a traffic advisory from 10 a.m. Friday through midnight Sunday during the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival at the Empire Polo grounds.
If they are not attending the concert, Indio police advise drivers to avoid traffic delays by steering clear of:
Jefferson Street, southbound, from Indio Boulevard to Avenue 52
Monroe Street, southbound, from I-10 to Avenue 52
Highway 111 at Jefferson Street
Highway 111 at Monroe Street
I-10 exit eastbound at Jefferson Street
I-10 exit eastbound at Monroe Street
Road closures:
Avenue 49 at Monroe Street
Avenue 50 between Jackson Street and Madison Street
Hjorth Street between Avenue 49 and Avenue 50
Madison Street between Avenue 49 and Avenue 50
Roads will be converted to one-way after 11 p.m.
Roads adjacent to the event will be converted to one-way to facilitate exiting traffic at the conclusion of the festival each evening.
If you are picking someone up from the festival or live in the area, police urge you to plan ahead and get to your destination at least one hour prior to the midnight conclusion of the festivals. You will have difficulty getting into the area after 11 p.m.
Monroe Street will be converted to southbound traffic only from Avenue 52 to Avenue 48.
Avenue 50 will be westbound only from Madison Street to Jefferson Street.
Avenue 52 will be eastbound only from Madison Street to Monroe Street.

Indio Police recommend these alternate routes to avoid concert traffic:
For travel north and south in Indio, use Madison Street, Jackson Street, Calhoun Street and Golf Center Parkway.
For east and west travel in Indio, use Fred Waring Drive, Miles Avenue east of Madison Street and Avenue 48.
If you live south of Avenue 52 near the event, go south to Airport Boulevard before going east or west.
