interesting list. lots of radiohead. i would add the following:
arcade fire – funeral
fleet foxes – fleet foxes
grizzly bear – yellow house
grizzly bear – veckatimest
lcd soundsystem – Sound Of Silver

Any list w/out LCD……..is a damn fine attempt.

Definitely going to have to second the AF/Funeral call.
Clearly missing Autolux’s Future Perfect.
Almost lost my shit when i didn’t see BSS in your top 10. i suppose 11 is acceptable.
i’m obviously in the minority, but i’ve always felt Radiohead, along w/ U2, are the most wrongly overhyped bands of the decade.
And i can never decide between Thickfreakness and Rubber Factory.

I’ve never liked Arcade Fire.
I dig Future Perfect, but didn’t make the cut. “Asleep At The Trigger” is a killer song.
Radiohead is obviously my favorite band. I think they will go down as one of the best bands in the history of rock.
Rubber Factory and The Big Come Up are both solid albums.

No Flaming Lips? Hmmm…. Limited hip-hop? Hmmm… Otherwise, gots me some listenin’ to do since I only know about half of these.
Rubber Factory. Definitely.
Radiohead continues to bewilder me, the band I love to love/hate.

I must have an issue as I literally have every single one of these CDs, EXCEPT Clinic and have no idea who they are…how did I miss that?

Clinic is sick. Thom Yorke and Jamie Hince (Kills) are huge fans.
I think that Demon Days is a masterpiece – I pussed out on ranking the album higher.
I recommend that everyone listen to Beta Band – “Hot Shots II”.

Seamus -
Not being a hater – but for the most part hip-hop died in the late 90’s. I’m a huge fan of old school (Eric B. & Rakim, NWA, PE, Tribe Called Quest, Roots (old), etc. Kanye, Lil Wayne and TI – suck, in my opinion. Eminem let Borat teabag him on MTV. Jurassic 5, Blackalicious, People Under The Stairs, Atmosphere and Lyrics Born still bring it hard.
I truly believe it’s an age thing with Radiohead. People forget that Kid A was released in 2000. OK Computer was released in 1997. Take a listen to both of these albums, you make the call. Radiohead broke barriers, same thing with Stankonia – hip-hop has never been the same.

Good list RG. A little surprised to see “Good News” rather than “Lonesome Crowded West,” as I remember when “Good News” came out and you telling me you preferred older Modest Mouse.
Know you’re not the biggest Raconteurs guy, but Consolers of the Lonely has rocked a lot of domes.
A couple of albums from the decade I don’t think I could live without:
Lucero – Nobody’s Darlings & Tennessee
Dan Auerbach – Heartbreak and Disrepair
Dexateens – Singlewide
John Hammond – Wicked Grin (do you have this one?)
September 11th, 2009 at 10:42 am
great list… a few i’d throw on too
Things Fall Apart – the Roots
Lovers – The Sleepy Jackson
Supergrass – Supergrass
Twilight as played by the Twilight Singers – Twilight Singers
Bows + Arrows – The Walkmen
Aha Shake Heartbreak – Kings of Leon
What Is? – King Khan & the Shrines
Lost Souls – Doves
Silent Alarm – Bloc Party
Howl – BRMC

You need to add one more Radiohead album to the mix – In Rainbows.

Major props on plugging Clinic. I first heard Internal Wrangler blasting at Red Onion Records in DC. Blew me away. If punk could evolve into a high art form, it would sound something like Clinic.

Bodie:
I went with “Good News” over “The Moon & Antarctica” – “Lonesome Crowded West” was released in 1997. I love Raconteurs’ “Consolers of the Lonely,” but did not care for “Broken Boy Soldiers.” I’ve been tuning Jack White out these days. I’m still warming up to The Dead Weather.
I do not have John Hammond’s “Wicked Grin,” I will check it out. I didn’t add any albums that were release in 2009. Grizzly Bear “Veckatimest,” White Denim “Fits” and Dan Auerbach’s “Heartbreak and Disrepair” would have made my Top 100.

Matt:
It’s good to know people that dig Clinic. They’ve been in heavy rotation for the past couple weeks. I saw Clinic at the Troubadour last year, the following night I caught the Kills at The EL Rey, my idea of live music heaven.

Charlie:
What Is? – King Khan & the Shrines was my number #31. All of your selections are solid. I would have chosen “Youth and Young Manhood” over “Aha Shake Heartbreak.” I love “Things Fall Apart,” but it came out in 1999.
September 13th, 2009 at 9:57 pm
Thought Dan Auerbach’s album was called Keep it Hid?
I think The Supreme Genious of KK and the Shrines is far superior than What is?
I give a vote to Black Lips’ Los Valientes Del Mundo, Hot Snakes’ Audit in Progress, BSS’ Major Label Debut, The Budos Band I & II, Dungen IV, & Banhart’s Smokey.
September 14th, 2009 at 10:07 am
KP:
Keep it Hid is correct. Spaced. The Supreme Genius is much better than What Is?, but it’s a greatest hits collection released by Vice. Banhart’s Smokey and Rejoicing In The Hands are strong.
