Rollo & Grady :: KXLU 88.9 FM – June 15th (2am-6am)

Wednesday morning, June 15, I’m going to DJ for Los Angeles radio station KXLU 88.9 FM. I will be on the air from 2am-6am playing a ton of handpicked tunes. I’m extremely honored to have the opportunity to DJ for such a kick-ass station. So, all of you insomniacs, drug addicts, and music fanatics, please tune in. If you are not near a radio or in the Los Angeles area, you can stream the show live by clicking here.

KXLU, which recently celebrated its 50th year being on the air, is a primarily student-run, free-form, commercial-free radio station broadcasting out of Loyola Marymount University. The station operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. KXLU’s mission is to offer diverse and alternative programming, spanning many different music genres as well as airing shows dedicated to film, theater, poetry, and cultural affairs.

KXLU has the well-earned reputation for presenting some of the best alternative rock and specialty programming in the United States in just the last 20 years. To name a small handful, these bands had their radio debut and “broke” on KXLU: The Pixies, Beck, Interpol, Jurassic 5, Rage Against The Machine, At The Drive-In, Local Natives, Jane’s Addition,The White Stripes, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Beastie Boys, and Weezer.

The station was the first in Los Angeles to play Nirvana and the first in the world to play “Smells Like Teen Spirit”. Check out Kurt Cobain rocking a KXLU T-Shirt.
