Outside Lands // 2009 Vs. 2008
2009 Lineup

I’m not sure what to make of this year’s Outside Lands Festival lineup versus 2008’s lineup. I know times are tough, but are the Black Eyed Peas, Jason Mraz and Incubus worthy of being headliners? How about Tom Jones?????? I’m going to reserve comment on DMB, Pearl Jam and Beastie Boys, they all had a place in my heart once – a long time ago. Ultimately festivals are about people having fun and enjoying the music they love, but if you ask me this event went in the wrong direction with their choice of headliners. On a positive note the following bands are playing – Deerhunter, Atmosphere, Band Horses, Blind Pilot, Q-Tip, Calexico, Dead Weather, Heartless Bastards, Silversun Pickups, Akron/Family, The Duke Spirit, Thievery Corporation and The Morning Benders.

I would rather time travel back to Outside Lands ‘08. Let me know your thoughts.

I agree with you R&G. Radiohead, Wilco, Broken Social Scene, Andrew Bird, M. Ward, Drive-By Truckers, Regina Spektor, Sharon King, etc. I will not be making the trip to the Bay Area this year. Bring on Coachella!!!!

Tom Jones, is he bringing Wayne Newton with him?? Is Sammy Davis Jr. still alive?

Sorry folks, but did you realize it’s not cool anymore to ditch uncle Tom Jones? The man is back in fashion. Just listen to this La Blogotheque session and grab his last album, 24 Hours. Its OK, I recommend it.

Can we turn the list upside down?

I will check out Tom’s session, but I doubt I will change my opinion of seeing him live at a festival. I’m just bummed that they had a great lineup last year and went commercial this year. It’s all about the Benjamins.

I agree with OZ. Aside from Pearl Jam, I’m more pumped for non-headliners.
