Meat Puppets

I cannot believe how good the new singles are from Dinosaur Jr, Meat Puppets, Jarvis Cocker, Sonic Youth and The Breeders. The bands are all staying true to their roots. Some groups from the 80’s and 90’s should retire gracefully (Axl), but these guys are putting out some of their best music in years. I’m not pulling some ol’ glory day shit, but it’s truly exciting for me to see the bands that I grew up with still rocking.

The Avett Brothers have announced that their American Records debut, titled I and Love and You, is set for an August 11th release. The Brothers are playing The Music Box at the Fonda on Saturday, May 9th (Buy Tix).

I bought the Laurel Canyon Soundtrack (used), MC Mastercuts presents The Essential Funkadelic and MC Mastercuts Presents Sly In The Family Stone at Amoeba Records in Hollywood. It’s a bit crowded, but that’s the point. Amoeba has such a great environment. They have DJ sets by Wendy and Lisa and DJ Babu, plus live T-shirt silk-screening by Family Industries until 6pm today.
