Billboard // Q&A With MOG Founder David Hyman

Billboard // Q&A With MOG Founder David Hyman

By Antony Bruno, Denver – Billboard
“Music social network MOG relaunched today to become, in the words of founder and CEO David Hyman, the “Huffington Post of the music business.”

But the new look is just the first step in what Hyman says will be a much broader music service that integrates streaming music with user-generated content. Exactly what that will look like won’t be known for another few months, but there have already been some significant changes. The company has terminated its on-demand, full-song streaming partnership with Rhapsody, and is in the process of licensing music directly from the record labels.

Billboard sat with Hyman to discuss the relaunch, the strategy behind it and what’s to come for the social network.” Continue Reading

The company seeks to, ‘reinvent radio for the Internet generation,’ by providing its users a free platform in which they can create their own radio stations, similar to Online radio pioneers Last.fm and Pandora. The company will be ad supported. Continue Reading

Capsula // Rising Mountains

Capsula // Rising Mountains

Capsula is a band from Buenos Aires that currently resides in Bilbao, Spain. Capsula, Spanish for Capsule, is named after a lyric from the David Bowie classic ‘Space Oddity.’ The group has been around since 1997, and have toured the world extensively. They recently played SXSW, where they caught the eye of Rolling Stone magazine critic David Fricke. He became an instant fan and selected them as one of his Fricke’s Picks.

I’m digging their new album, Rising Mountains. Highlights include ‘Magnetic Brain’, ‘Wild C’, ‘Original Is Dead’, ‘Found & Lost’ and ‘The Sea Cave.’
