Growing up listening to Sly And The Family Stone, The Meters, James Brown & JB Horns; I thought they were the be-all, end-all in the Funk-Soul genre. Then I stumbled onto New Orleans Funk and some nasty Michigan Funk. Robert Jay’s “Alcohol, Pt. 1″ absolutely jams. With his smooth matter of fact vocals, there’s no mistaken that he’s had some bouts with the sauce. The back-up singers are as good as I’ve ever heard.
