Did anyone catch Ben Harper backing Ringo Starr last night on The Daily Show? It’s sad to say, but Ben is too talented to be a part of that mess. Ringo’s live show is a complete train wreck. Jon Stewart must have been bummed out with the awkward performance by Ringo and company.

Tragic news. Jay Reatard is dead at the age of 29. He reportedly died in his sleep and was found at home at 3:30am this morning.
Statement from Goner Records: “It is with great sadness that we report the passing of our good friend Jay Reatard. We will pass along information about funeral arrangements when they are made public.”
Statement from Matador Records: “We are devastated by the death of Jimmy Lee Lindsey Jr., aka Jay Reatard. Jay was as full of life as anyone we’ve ever met, and responsible for so many memorable moments as a person and artist. We’re honored to have known and worked with him, and we will miss him terribly.”

The Souljazz Orchestra, is Afro-jazz at it’s best. Drawing on the rough, raw grooves of the ‘60s and ‘70s and effortlessly fusing soul, jazz, Afro and Latin rhythms within their music, they have moved forward the blueprint of Fela, Fania and the funk in entirely new ways, whilst keeping the vital analog grit intact. Great stuff.
