The Avett Brothers // Ten Thousand Words (Lyrics)

The Avett Brothers // Ten Thousand Words (Lyrics)
I’ve been listening to “Ten Thousand Words” non-stop since seeing the Brothers perform the song at The Orpheum.

Ten Thousand Words

Ten thousand words swarm around my head
Ten million more in books written beneath my bed
I wrote or read them all when searchin’ in the swarms
Still can’t find out how to hold my hands

And I know you need me in the next room over
But I am stuck in here all paralyzed
For months I got myself in ruts
Too much time spent in mirrors framed in yellow walls

Ain’t it like most people? I’m no different
We love to talk on things we don’t know about
Ain’t it like most people? I’m no different
We love to talk on things we don’t know about

Pax Nicholas // Na Teef Know De Road of Teef

Pax Nicholas // Na Teef Know De Road of Teef

Na Teef Know De Road of Teef
means something along the lines of “the thief knows the way other thieves work,” and is the only official solo release by Pax Nicholas, aka Nicholas Addo-Nettey, a Ghanaian percussionist and singer who joined Fela Kuti’s Africa 70 band in 1971.

Na Teef… was recorded with members of Africa 70, in Ginger Baker’s (Cream) Lagos studio, and released in very limited amounts in 1973. Legend has it that Pax played it at some parties, and Fela saw how positively the crowd responded, and told him to never play it again.

The story of Na Teef… would have ended there had it not been for Frank Gossner (aka DJ Soulpusher of voodoofunk.com), who in 2005, found a copy hidden at a record store in Philly, tracked down Nicholas in Berlin, and brought the album to the attention of Daptone Records, who re-released earlier this month.

Pax Nicholas // Na Teef Know De Road of Teef

Track List:
1.) Na Teef Know The Road of Teef
2.) Ataa Onukpa
3.) Na Six Feet
4.) You
