J. Irvin Dally recorded three acoustic songs for a recent Big Ugly Yellow Couch session. BUYC is an acoustic video session series run out of the Brooklyn apartment of writer Carlye Wisel and photographer/videographer Donald Rasmussen. Previous sessions include Twin Sister, Dawes, Yellow Ostrich, Phantogram, and others. They offer MP3’s and video footage of the sessions. It’s a great site worth checking out.

This album is guaranteed to be in my top 10 of 2011. On “No Time For Dreaming,” Bradley is backed by the Menahan Street Band and some sweet sounding soul singers. It’s Godfather of Soul worthy material with heavy bass lines, killer horns, and some serious screaming. Shit is tight.

Patrice Jackson – Image by Bridget Russell
I’ve always been a fan of rock photographers. Some favorites are Jim Marshall, Bob Gruen, and Eddie Kramer. These photographers had all-access to legendary bands such as The Stones, Sex Pistols, Doors, Jimi Hendrix, and Led Zeppelin. I currently admire the work of Danny Clinch; he has done some excellent work with Radiohead, My Morning Jacket, Beastie Boys, and Tupac, to name a few.
When I started Rollo & Grady, I shot all of the live shows for the blog. Having no previous experience, I realized how difficult it was to capture a great live shot. I didn’t follow the rules, basically blinding musicians with my flash. After a year or so, I decided to let professionals handle the photography for the site.
Last year at SXSW, a mutual friend introduced me to Patrice Jackson during Warpaint’s show at the Red Eyed Fly. She was full of energy and wearing a Daniel Boone hat. We discussed music and it turned out we loved the same bands, especially JEFF The Brotherhood. Not having seen any of her previous work, I asked her on the spot to shoot the festival for me priligy tablets. When she sent me the photos a week later, I was floored with the shots that she had captured. She went on to shoot JEFF The Brotherhood for me last April.
