Hill Country Revue // Make A Move

Hill Country Revue is being billed as the modern Southern Rock & Blues band for the new generation. Formed by Cody Dickinson and Chris Chew from The North Mississippi All-Stars in February 2008, it features Kirk Smithhart, Ed “Hot” Cleveland and Dixie Dan Coburn. The band’s debut studio album, Make A Move, will released by Razor & Tie on May 12th. The majority of the material on the album was written by Garry Burnside, the youngest son of legendary Mississippi bluesman R.L. Burnside. They’re playing tonight at the Georgia Theatre in Athens. “Music social network MOG relaunched today to become, in the words of founder and CEO David Hyman, the “Huffington Post of the music business.”

But the new look is just the first step in what Hyman says will be a much broader music service that integrates streaming music with user-generated content. Exactly what that will look like won’t be known for another few months, but there have already been some significant changes. The company has terminated its on-demand, full-song streaming partnership with Rhapsody, and is in the process of licensing music directly from the record labels.
