The phenomenal Spotify P2P music streaming app, which lets you instantly hear nearly four million tracks for free or with an ad-free subscription, continues to spread like wildfire across Europe. Over a million users have registered in the United Kingdom alone, while Mogwai’s Stuart Braithwaite, Radiohead’s Jonny Greenwood and other luminaries lent the service a sheen of cool by sharing their own Spotify playlists.
Unlike iTunes’ iMixes, Spotify’s playlists can be played instantly, in their entirety, for free. Another way Spotify playlists trump iTunes is that with two clicks of the mouse, any Spotify playlist can be made “collaborative.” With that feature enabled, anyone with the corresponding URL can edit it.
