The Rolling Stones // Con Le Mie Lacrime
“As Tears Go By” is considered to be the first original composition written by Jagger and Richards. The song was initially named “As Time Goes By.” Their manager Andrew Oldham received a writing credit for changing “Time” to “Tears.” Oldham gave the ballad to 17 year-old Marianne Faithfull in 1964. The single hit #22 on the Billboard Charts and helped launch her career.
The Stones recorded their own version in 1965. The same year they released the Italian version “Con le mie lacrime” as a bonus track to the “As Tears Go By” single album.
