I normally TIVO through television advertisements, but last night I happened to catch Cat Power’s version of David Bowie’s “Space Oddity” for some car commercial. It’s Cat Power at her finest; though I’m ready for her to change directions from her depressing monotone covers. I wouldn’t mind seeing her do an album with Danger Mouse. They recently worked together on Beck’s song “Orphans“. Hopefully they discussed working with one another down the road.

Her hippest song to date is 2004’s “I’ve Been Thinking” from the Handsome Boy Modeling School’s 2nd album, White People. HBMS was a hip hop collaboration between superstar producers Prince Paul (De La Soul) and Dan the Automator (Gorillaz). In 2006, Paul announced his retirement from HBMS due to business conflicts with Dan the Automator.
