“Her work has a lovely, mournful lilt, a sort of Parisian blues. Even those of us who don’t speak French cannot help but be touched by the stark beauty of her phrasing.”
LA Weekly

I planned on including french-born, Arizona based singer-songwriter Marianne Dissard’s beautiful song, “Mercia De Rien Du Tout” on the third installment of Voices of Angels. After listening to it over and over again, I decided it should be Monday’s song of the day. The track is off her upcoming album L’entredeux, which was co-written by Calexico’s frontman Joey Burns. It’s not the first time she’s worked with Joey, she lent her vocals to Calexico’s “Ballad of Cable Hogue”.

According to Marianne, “Mercie De Rien Du Tout (Thanks For Nothing)” is about “Being thankful for the little things in life.”

The release date for L’entredeux is 9/19/08 (pre-order from MySpace)
