Rollo & Grady // Highly Recommended
The Calgary-based band Woodpigeon is considered one of Canada’s best kept secrets. The eight-member group fronted by Mark Hamilton recently self-released a new album Treasury Library. They opened up several dates for Calexico in September and supported Iron and Wine this month. For fans of Belle & Sebastian and Sufjan Stevens.

When I was in Austin a couple weeks ago six different people told me that White Demin was the best band in town. I had heard of the group, but had not listen to their music until recently. The Texas garage-rock trio live up to the hype. The band incorporates a heavy dose of blues, retro-rock with a touch of punk in their songs. They’ve self-released several EP’s and have laid down 11 tracks for their new LP, Explosions (release date TBD). These guys are going to be huge stars.

Hey Negrita’s “The Last Thing That I Do” is a perfect song for a Wes Anderson movie. The London-based group has been compared to The Rolling Stones, The Band and Johnny Cash. Their folk-rock style of music reminds me a little bit of the Felice Brothers work. They opened up for The Beach Boys in Germany earlier this year.
