Rollo & Grady’s Jive-Five // Volume #8

I got turned on to Hip-Hop at an early age. At eleven-years-old I was listening to Sugar Hill Gang and other pop forms of hip-hop. When I was fourteen-years old (1984) I met this kid named Corey from New York. He turned me on to Run D.M.C., Kurtis Blow, Grandmaster FLash, Schoolly D, Whodini and Eric B. and Rakim. I was blown away by Run D.M.C. I had never heard anything like it before. Make sure to check out their self-titled debut album.

I remember Martinez Johnston sitting on bus #5 letting me listen to Grandmaster Flash…that was my intro..Who was Corey?

I had figured that was it…love those days of CBS at Granville towers…Loving some MMJ…put a ton on my ipod last night form the early years along with some Stephen Malkmus..Told Sutton about the site at the game Saturday night…
