New Album Releases For Tuesday (3/24/2009)
Pete Doherty
Pete Doherty wants to be known as Peter Doherty. Orenda Fink, formerly of Azure Ray is now one half of O+S and the Condo Fucks are Yo La Tango. I want to hate The Decemberists’ The Hazards of Love, but it’s pretty damn good. Pete Doherty’s Grace/Wastelands is a bit dull. I was excited about the album for the first couple of spins, but I’ve grown tired of it. My favorite release of the week is from Sub Pop recording artist the Obits. The Brooklyn-based quartet’s I Blame You is an excellent rock’n’roll record. The band is fronted by former Hot Snakes singer/guitarist Rick Froberg. They are playing at Spaceland on Friday, May 22nd.
