MOJO Magazine // Top 50 Albums Of 2008
I consider Bon Iver’s ‘For Emma’ a 2007 release. I love that they excluded Vampire Weekend, one of the most overrated bands of 2008. Fleet Foxes isn’t a bad pick, but I have them ranked somewhere between 11 and 20 on my list. Thoughts?
Good Picks/Bad Rankings: The Black Keys, Elbow, TV On The Radio
Omissions: The Raconteurs, Deerhunter, Deerhoof, Department of Eagles, My Morning Jacket
Head Scratchers: Neil Diamond, Metallica

Brilliant to see Erykah Badu’s fantastic album getting some love.

Yes, she’s soul-sister #1. I don’t have her on my list, but I’m still sorting through my albums.

Bon Iver came out this year in UK, so I allow it for UK mags but not for US mags.

That’s fair. The album was technically released in ‘08 in the states too. But it’s been kicking around since ‘07.

Did anyone hear the album “Rattlin’ Bones” by Shane Danielson & Kasey Chambers. Aussie married pair (may not have had UK release). My favourite of 2008. Happy listening!

Wait – Metallica is a head-scratcher and Oasis isn’t? While Death Magnetic wasn’t great, it was consistently good, and had a couple of right gems on it. Not in my top ten or owt, but lower in a top 50 sounds perfectly fine for me.
It’s no worse than the Fucked Up album, for one.
Erykah should be top 10. Can’t wait for her next one.

It’s a British publication, so it didn’t surprise me that Oasis was included on the list. I’m over Metallica. I do like Erykah’s album.
