Kieran Hebden AKA Four Tet
I truly enjoy remixes. But they are rarely better than the originals. London-based DJ Four Tet managed to accomplish this feat on both the “Imitosis”and “Breathe Me” remixes. His combination of acoustic and electronic beats are fresh and unique. The key to his success is not smothering the originals with his beats. He has a new album with Steve Reid coming out in November on Domino. It’s called “NYC” and was recorded in New York earlier this year.
Steve Reid is the legendary jazz drummer who has played with Miles Davis, Ornette Coleman, James Brown, Fela Kuti and Sun Ra, and as a session drummer for Motown. Should be a great album.
