Jessica Lea Mayfield // Have You Heard Sessions
For fans of Gillian Welch, Alela Diane, Hope Sandoval, Cat Power
It’s hard to believe that Kent, Ohio singer/songwriter Jessica Lea Mayfield is only 19 years-old. Her haunting voice and lovesick songs would make Lucinda Williams proud. Her debut LP ‘With Blasphemy So Heartfelt’ was produced by The Black Keys’ guitarist/vocalist Dan Auerbach (who also plays guitar, piano, organ and drums on the record). The album was recorded over a two-year span in Auerbach’s home studio in Akron. She also sang back up on the Black Keys’ “Things Ain’t Like They Used To Be”, Dan repaid the favor by lending his vocals to Mayfield’s “Is This Love?“. You can catch Jessica @ the Troubadour on February 19th.
Atlanta’s Have You Heard Sessions did an excellent job capturing Mayfield’s beautiful voice. I recommend checking out their Dead Confederate sessions. Great site.
