DML Tickets // Silversun Pickups

I have one pair of tickets to Darker My Love and The Soft Pack show tomorrow night @ The Echoplex. Please email me @ rollogrady@gmail.com.

In related news, Darker My Love’s Dangerbird Records labelmates Silversun Pickups have finished recording their follow up to Carnavas. The album is due out early next year. They remind me of a Gish-era Smashing Pumpkins (compliment). I expect them to experiment with their sound on this record. I’m looking forward to it.

‘Gish-era’ Pumpkins is the perfect anaolgy for these guys, I can’t wait for the new album.

Gish is one of my favorites albums recorded in the past 20 years.

I read that Corgan said Gish and Siamese Dream (also really solid) were created mostly as instrumental albums, with vocals in the back. Everything since those 2 releases have been suspect, and seems mixed with his vocals way up front. I think it ruined the perfect sound that band once had.

You’re dead on. I remember when I fell out of love with the band. It was either 1999 or 2000, I saw the Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness tour at Madison Square Garden. Man they sucked. Fucking Evan Dando from the Lemonheads came out in a Tinman costume and danced around. I didn’t listen to them for years after that. If I do listen to anything it’s Gish and Siamese Dream.
