We had the same debate over at our website. I lived in St. Paul in late 2007, when this came out, and it was everywhere; on the local NPR station, in stores, at shows played by Justin. My rule of thumb is this: whenever the album is legally available to the general public, that's when it came out. Just because some people didn't know about Bon Iver in late 2007 doesn't change the fact that anyone in the know could have easily gotten their hands on a copy of his debut.

Yeah, it would have been in my top 3. I'm interested to see what he does on his 2nd album. The expectations will be high. It's going to be hard to top 'For Emma, Forever Ago'. Will see.
